rattlesnake in our yard

Ali found this rattlesnake in our backyard taking a shower under our sprinklers.  It was coiled up but did not rattle and she wasn't sure whether it was a fake snake or a real one.  When Cameron heard her ask whether we had put a fake snake in the grass he grabbed a gun and went outside.  I was quick to inform him that I wanted all gopher snakes so he better make sure it was a rattlesnake... it was.  He shot it with the BB gun right through the head!  It was about 2 1/2 feet long.  I am glad it is no longer lurking in our grass and I am very grateful that Cameron happened to be home that afternoon so I did not have to take care of it.
