What we do after a snow day

Annika had preschool and the girls had school and I headed to Snow Valley.  These are my new skis and I love them!  It is so nice to have a pair of skis that flex and that turn with ease.  I enjoyed 3 hours of perfect snow conditions!  I loved every minute.

On Friday I took the girls skiing after school.  We enjoyed skiing and Annika has become quite the skier.  She is good at turning, stopping and she even skis fast.  Next time I will take her up to the top of the mountain because she is ready.

What we do on a snow day.

It snowed about 13 inches overnight and there was a little too much to leave first thing in the morning but after Cameron snow blowed the driveway: twice and the snow let up we headed down to Aneheim again while he went to work.  Ali and Ashling were brave enough to get us some fast passes while Annika and I waited in line for the Matterhorn.  Annika loves this ride and kept her hands up nearly the whole time.  I realized that this ride is a lot better when you are not in the front.  (The front of the car is small and you bounce around a lot more because there is nowhere for your feet to be.)

We waited in line for the Nemo ride... not worth the wait very often.

We also went on Star Tours and Buzz Lighteyear.  Then we went over to ride on Splash Mountain, Winnie the Pooh and the Haunted Mansion.

We rode the train over to Autotopia,  Annika is quite the scary driver!

The best ride of the day was the last.  We rode on Space Mountain and Annika just loves this ride!  She loves flying through the stars!

After the rides were done we drove the Chilis where I had a coupon for free dinners for the kids and we ate dinner for under 15 dollars for all of us!  I call that a steal!

A new Ride

Cameron has been wanting a new car since we bought our cheap Ford Focus a couple of years ago.  He kept insisting that it was not a good car to go up and down the mountain in and that soon it was going to blow up.  I finally told him that he could buy a new car when he sold the old one for a certain price.  He did it pretty quickly and then negotiated a sweet deal on a Subaru Impreza.  We are happy with the all wheel drive, continuous variable transmission and the blue tooth capabilities.  But what really makes the car a steal for me are the heated seats!  I love keeping my bum warm on cold days!

Disneyland in the Rain

Our good friends were visiting from Utah and we made plans to meet them at Disneyland on a Friday.  Little did we know that it would be a big storm that day.  We decided to brave it and drove in torrential downpours all the way to Aneheim.  When we got there the sun was out a little but we could see big black clouds in the distance.  Just as we hit the ticket booth to California adventures it started to pour rain.  We just stood there wondering what to do next and then we stood there some more.  Our friends texted us and let us know that they were in a restaurant not far from the front and we decided to make a run for it to them... not such a good idea.  We ended up with wet pants and would have had wet shoes too except I made everyone wear their snow boots to disneyland.

After that rain storm passed it seemed to dry up a little and we ended up going over to Disneyland to ride some of the indoor rides they had there.  Among the highlights is that Annika was able to ride on Space Mountain and the Matterhorn for the first time.
I enjoyed getting a picture with the storm troopers.  They are not the nicest people at Disneyland and don't offer any hugs or pose for pictures.  We really enjoyed hanging out with our friends for the day.
Later the littlest ones got to ride the merry go round while the rest rode on California Screaming.  Ashling rode that ride for her first and second times and she loves it now.

Our last thing we did was to see the World of Colors.  The kids loved it!  It was pretty amazing to see and also quite wet.  By the time it was done we were so cold despite our coats, gloves, and hats that we had to stop and get hot chocolate and warm up inside the Starbucks cafe.  Thank goodness for a warm place to warm up.  Although I don't recommend Disneyland when it is that cold it was quite fun to go with our friends.  Too bad we didn't get more pictures.

Ashling and Emily

Ashling's Best friend is Emily.  Emily is conviniently also the little girl I babysit a few times a week.  For Emily's birthday we bought the girls matching best friends shirts and I had to take some pictures of them.

By the way:  Emily is 3 months older than Ashling.  Ashling is tall and Emily is short...
